Super friendly staff. Very knowledgeable tour guide. The zipline and rappelling activities were closed for renovations but was able to do the cave tour($25) and also walk through the museum(free) and gift shop. The cave tour was very cool. There are lots of stairs and wet/slick surfaces and might be challenging for those who are elderly or disabled. The museum is a bit dated but it's neat and it's free. Lots of cool rocks, gems, fossils, jewelry and apparel in the gift shop. I bought a huge megalodon tooth and awesome fish fossil! Will have to come back to try the zipline and rappelling!

We have visited this area many times, but this was our first time visiting Hidden River Cave and it did not disappoint. We were on the last tour of the day with Jay and you could tell he really loved his job. The cave itself has a really neat story/history and is literally in the middle of town. The store was clean and well stocked with all kinds of souvenir options. This cave is pet friendly since it regularly floods and our pup had a great time too. Take the stairs down to immediately see the river, old equipment and part of the dam, cross a bridge, and be prepared for a little mud (especially if it has flooded recently). While you wait for your tour, make sure to go downstairs to learn more about the history of the cave. Lots of parking in the lot on the side street.

Outside of Entrance is definitely the most beautiful part. And the walk down is most interesting transitioning into the cave and crossing the long suspension bridge is very fun. No formations whatsoever. But the rope lighting along all the path instead of overhead lights adds an alluring appeal and almost a romantic enchanting environment. Especially when it gets windy and slopes up it is a cool view. it add enough light to see the cave walls without the extra lights. Until u get to dome rooms. But then they kick on the stadium lighting for a grand view. Its a cool experience if u passing through area but not worth a special trip directly. Mammoth and onyx cave are better. If u collect any depression era glass definitely hit up the vintage antique shops next door they are loaded wirh cool stuff. My phone died and could not get many pics

What a wonderful tour and beautiful cave. It is an easy walk through (unless the suspension bridge impacts your fear of heights!) and so much to see and learn. Shout out to our amazing guide, Al. What a delight to meet someone so passionate about caves and the work he does. Not the largest or most well known cave in the area....but definitely worth a visit.

we had an amazing time doing a tour! our guide was al, 1000000% recommend asking him for your tour guide if you can or get lucky with him. we somehow ended up being the only 2 for our tour so it felt even more personal and immersive. the swinging bridge is so much fun and the sunset dome is worth the trip!! i can’t recommend this tour enough, we know we will be back as soon as we can. we’re already planning our trip back to do more tours including seeing this one again!!!

to counter all the bad 1-2 star reviews, you are going to a cave and will experience the weather and nature. you will have to go down + up steps exposed to rain or snow or sun or whatever because you are quite literally visiting a cave … outside. these things can flood because they’re an underground structure. the water has to go somewhere and that’s something the guides will teach you about if you listen to them!! supporting small caves like this is important to help sustain these beautiful areas for future generations to hopefully enjoy. our tour was a little over an hour because we asked questions, let our guide talk and we all had a great conversation going on overall. we got to see some frogs and salamanders at this one which was really special but i know it’s not guaranteed to see wildlife at any cave. yes it is a smaller cave but just think about how you get to experience being underground and no two caves are the same. we got to visit 6 on our trip down here and each one has its own WOW factor.

if you can’t handle nature doing its thing then don’t cave at all. to complain about a cave flooding is ridiculous because that’s just mother nature. the guides can’t change that it flooded and to try to give this place a bad reputation for that is crazy. you’re going to have to take steps to the cave because how else would you get down 40ft? just think of all the people in history who walked down those steps and didn’t complain.

do not listen to those bad reviews about this place!!!!! just plan accordingly with the weather, know if it’s raining that it may flood. we got lucky that our whole trip we didn’t experience any rain. this cave is really special to my fiancé and i, we can’t recommend enough for people to go try it out and experience it. 2/6 of our cave tours were 2 hours and that was at mammoth cave. all the smaller cave areas will be an hour or less for the tour because there’s only so much they can show off.

Not only was this place mind-blowing to visit, but the employees were as well in the best possible way!

One employee (I wish I knew her name..she had long dark hair and was working behind the counter with Jack when we arrived for the 1:00 PM tour) noticed our children, ages 2 and 4, admiring the penny press machine. I didn’t have any change on me to use it, so this wonderful employee generously gave us enough change for both of our kids to make their own pressed pennies. That simple act of kindness meant so much to us. Everyone we encountered was incredibly welcoming and kind to our children, which was extremely refreshing.

Now, on to Jack. Jack was our tour guide for the 1:00 PM tour, and he was absolutely amazing. He was knowledgeable, encouraged questions, and shared fascinating information throughout the entire experience. He also volunteers with the American Cave Conservation Association and participates in surveys of this very cave, which made his passion and expertise shine through. His knowledge of every little detail about the cave was unmatched, and he delivered it all in a way that was both funny and engaging.

From the incredible natural beauty of the cave to the outstanding staff who clearly care about both the cave and their visitors, this was an unforgettable experience. We left with great memories, a deeper appreciation for the history and science of the cave, and two very happy kids. We would highly recommend a visit and can’t wait to come back someday.

The tour guide was great, and they all were so nice. The cave was awesome compared to others in the area. Take a light jacket; it's a little chilly. Dog-friendly, and we are going back for their 3-hour off-route tour.

Al our guide was INCREDIBLE! The most passionate guide who truly loves what he does, and throws in a dad joke or 2. We will be back to see how the cave has changed. There’s a lot more to it than just a cave. Highly recommend!

My tour guide was fantastic. It was just me, and her. Plus my dogs. Love that I got to take the dogs.

She had lots of information about the history of the cave. The suspension bridge was cool. Next time I want to do the off trail tour and wander. Because of the recent rains, they had a pretty cool waterfall inside. Loved that!

Downside: OMG stairs 😂 I was slow coming back up.

Kayleigh was our tour guide, we are so honored to be her first clients to be lead on a tour through the hidden River cave. She was amazing and we had lots of fun thanks to her and the other tour guide. It's our first time visiting Kentucky and we now have a new appreciation and respect towards the kind and welcoming people of this town. Thanks for making us and our dog Boba happy today. We learned so much interesting and neat facts about the caves and we were able to see a bunch of unique cave critters! The cave itself was beautiful and it felt like a place from the Indiana jones movies.
